Probably made in the late 17th century; a version of the famous portrait by van Dyck of c. 1636. In 1775 it was sold by Countess Du Barry to Louis XV (now in Paris, Louvre, inv. no 1236). Van Dyck’s portrait was copied many times, with more than thirty copies being made in his studio alone.
