Peter Lely (1618–80), painter of Dutch origin; from the 1640s active in London. From 1661 Principal Painter to Charles II. Charles II (1630–85) of the Stuart dynasty, King of England, Scotland and Ireland (reg. 1660–85). The King wears the robes of a Knight of the English Order of the Garter, a collar with the Order of the Garter around the neck. Plumed hat of the Order on a table. Pendant to the portrait of Catherine of Braganza (ZKW/129/ab).
