The field is divided into three horizontal rectangles. In the middle one, narrower than the others, an outline of the Grand Mosque in Mecca on a blue background: visible buildings around the yard, towers, and arcades. In the extreme rectangles red inward-facing niches, resting on two columns, topped by triangles, with large lamps suspended on chains. Above the base of each column a single flower on a slanted stalk. Around the niche smaller flowers on stalks – simple and short at the horizontal edges, slanted and long at the vertical ones. In the spandrels, on a dark brown background, an arabesque with inscribed small medallions. We warmly invite you to become more acquainted with full description of this rug published in “Prayer Rugs Collection catalogue" by Katarzyna Połujan (Teresa Sahakian Foundation, The Royal Castle in Warsaw – Museum), Warsaw 2015.
