In the central field, on a red background, a double mihrab with rectangular tops, divided into three segments: the niche upper sections and the central part. The shape of the niches and the inner division are set apart by means of a blackish brown band decorated with varicoloured squares alternating with rosettes composed of squares. One top of the niche is brown and navy blue, hooked motifs along the axis and bands of rosettes composed of squares along the sides. The other top has the colour of the background, with an inscribed white pentagon surrounded by rosettes; the pentagon is enclosed by a triangle and topped with an octagon with a rosette, decorated with a “radiant" geometric motif. In the four corners two white rectangles apiece (at the top) and squares (at the bottom) with the X motifs, inscribed in small rectangular sections, set off by a blue band of motifs analogous to those on the band around the niche. In the central part, on a brown-and-navy blue background, a large hexagon with hooked motifs. Around the hexagon three animal figures, rosettes and S motifs. Between the three separated segments horizontal stripes of various geometric motifs: in the outer ones the hooked motif on a beige and dark blue background, in the outer ones overlapping triangles on a red backdrop; between them white stripes with an angular tendril on a sand-coloured background. We warmly invite you to become more acquainted with full description of this rug published in “Prayer Rugs Collection catalogue" by Katarzyna Połujan (Teresa Sahakian Foundation, The Royal Castle in Warsaw – Museum), Warsaw 2015.
