One of 22 views of Warsaw painted by Bellotto for the Senators’ Antechamber (known as the Canaletto Room) at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The painting is listed in the 1795 catalogue of the Stanisław August collection under no. 1184: “Vue du Palais Lubomirski derrire la grille de fer". Red number 1184 of Stanisław August collection alongside red number 4583 of Russian Imperial collection bottom right (the latter was added in 1832, in St Petersburg, following the removal of the painting to Russia as part of the repressions following the November Uprising).
