The painting is listed in the 1795 catalogue of the Stanisław August collection under no. 1170. Henri (1551–9) of the Valois dynasty, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (reg. 1573–4) as Henryk I Walezy, King of France (reg. 1574–89) as Henri III.
