Purchased for the Royal Castle’s collections in 1998. Engraved decoration on one side of the bowl: a shield surmounted by a royal crown in a cartouche. The shield is divided into five fields with the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania and Saxony and the Order of the Elephant beneath. The Order of the Elephant, which is the highest Danish decoration, was awarded to the Wettins many times, to both August II and August III. There are few surviving goblets depicting this order in collections in Dresden among others. Frequently, the Order of the Elephant on a chain is the sole decorative motif on the bowl of the glass, similar to glassware depicting the motif of the Order of the White Eagle.
