Stanisław August in Coronation Robes

The portrait was painted for the Marble Room at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Stanisław Antoni Poniatowski of the Ciołek coat of arms (1732–98), King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (reg. 1764–95) as Stanisław II August [Stanisław August]. The painting is listed in the 1795 catalogue of the Stanisław August collection under no. 1179: “Stanislas Auguste en manteau de pourpre". Traces of the white number of an unidentified collection [69] bottom left. The King is shown wearing coronation robes.
